Top Five Thursdays: Oldies

It's funny how music can transport you to a place and time. I think more often than not, it's oldies that do that to me. Maybe it's because I've been listening to some of these songs since I was a little girl. So here are my top five oldies!

1. God Only Knows

As a California girl, it's a requirement that I like the Beach Boys (same with Sublime and Red Hot Chili Peppers). Every since I made this song my ringtone for HB, it has become "our" song.

2. I Think I Love You

When I was younger I was OBSESSED with the Partridge Family. I LOVED David Cassidy - such a babe.

3. If You Leave Me Now

When I worked at a coffee shop I used to open the store by myself at six a.m. on the weekends. I needed music that was peppy enough to wake me up about with assaulting my eardrums that early in the morning. So I always listened to the 70's soft pop station. I still love that genre of music, and this is by far my favorite song. (I probably could have made a top five list for just 70's soft pop).

4. Suspicious Minds

5. I Want You Back

Another one of my obsessions from when I was younger was the movie Now and Then. I had the soundtrack and would listen to it all the time. It including two songs by the Jackson 5.

So there's my list. There are so many other songs I could have added, and I think it depends on a person's definition of Oldies, but every time any of these songs come on, I'm singing along.

  2. I found you through Meghan's Top 5 Thursdays and I LOVE "If You Leave Me Now" - definitely one of the many songs my parents would play in the car during long road trips we took when I was growing up :) My mom is a BIG Elvis fan, so anything by the King reminds me of that time too :) Love the Beach Boys as well. And I listen to "I Want You Back" at work when I need a little pick-me-up during the work day. I just love your whole list basically :)

  3. Oh my gosh, I am OBSESSED with Chicago, and #3 is my favorite Chicago song! There is actually a "Sex and the City" episode with that very song at Stanford's prom! I've always thought it was so beautiful!

Love your list - thanks for linking up!
