Cocktail Hour

Last week HB and I decided to start having cocktail hour. We aren't big drinkers, but we usually end up having a glass of wine every day. We've been going through our wine collection pretty quickly, so we decided to start making cocktails. We have a lot of hard alcohol that we've bought for cooking, and we thought it would be a great way to use it up.

We have hit kind of a road block though. A lot of the mixers used in cocktails have corn syrup. Anyone who knows me knows that HB has a corn allergy/intolerance and can't eat any. So all mixers we've been making from scratch.

Last night we had whiskey sours, with homemade sour mix. Here is the recipie we used:

2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons water
2 tablespoons lemon
3 tablespoons whiskey

They were sooo yummy! MUCH better than the sour mix you find anywhere else. I highly recommend it.

The night before we tried a Pimm's Cup recipe, but I didn't like that one as much. I'm going to make some variations and hopefully I'll have something to post tomorrow.
