Best Remedies for Poison Oak/Ivy/Sumac or Mango Lips

It's Monday night and my "mango lips" are gone. I absolutely love mangoes and I'm pretty sad that I can't eat them anymore. I know some websites say that if I wash them really good and don't eat the fruit close to the peel or pit I should be fine, but I don't want to risk it. There isn't really anything grosser than a poison oak-like rash on your lips.

You might be wondering how I got rid of the rash so quickly. If any of you have had poison oak/ivy/sumac, you know the rash is a pain and lasts for a pretty long time.

Well, years of getting horrible cases of poison oak has made me a bit of an expert.

Usually I stick with one thing, Burt's Bees Poison Ivy/Oak Bar. This stuff is my secret weapon. I have the rash dried in a day or two. You have to wash the rash a few times a day, but it's worth it.

Unfortunately, all the heath food stores that carry this product were closed Saturday night when I saw my rash starting to get weepy. I hopped in the car and drove to Walmart and bought out half of their selection of Poison Oak/Ivy/Sumac related remedies.

This is where I got secret weapon #2: the Benadryl Itch Relief Stick. After two uses my blisters were dry. I never even had to go buy the soap. Unfortunately, this stick does NOTHING to relieve the itch, and actually made it burn, but man it was worth a little discomfort. I was already trying to style a headscarf around my face to cover my lips in case it got worse, but this stick saved the day.

For the record, I am not getting paid or haven't been asked to promote these products. After years of suffering with poison oak rashes I just want to let people know what works (and spread the message about mango, because I had no idea, and I think they should warn people about that kind of thing)!
